The tunnel constructor

Jeff noticed a week or so ago that we seemed to have tunnels exiting the snow banks onto to our driveway, on both sides.

And they were surrounded by many little foot prints.

Want to see who dug the tunnels?

We have at least 2 red squirrels this winter who are eating sunflower seeds from the bird feeder, and who are living in our old shed. Jeff squirrel proofed the shed, but they were smarter and found a way in. Then he didn’t have the heart to re-evict them in the winter.

So they eat the sunflower seeds, and have built a tunnel network in the snow. Of course the tunnels surface right under the bird feeder.

Busy as beavers these red squirrels.
