Fix the Chips!

I took my blue beauty to Apple Auto Glass today and got them to repair two stone chips on my window. I kinda knew they could always do this, but never did it. They say da’ fresher da’ better. $65 + tax to seal 2 nasty chips on my front window vs. $500+ to replace the windshield. No brainer.

It’s Tuesday evening. It’s misty/foggy outside over the lake. We were just at the front windows watching the deer in the field across the lake and there is a flock of crows chasing a hawk over the lake. Monty is outside and is all muddy from his bunny patrol back and forth along the back fence.

Nothing much else is new. I hear Mom and Julie are both sick so if you live close to them, you should bring them chicken soup. Campbell’s if you can – I hear they’re closing the big Campbell’s soup plant back home. That’ll put a lot of people out of work. I probably have several high school friends employed there.

SNOW! GAS! OUCH!

It snowed over night! Not so much here in town though – I was the only car in the parking lot covered in white slush.

Gas went up 7 cents over night – to $134.8 1!! 88|

Ever bruised the top of your ear? No? Well it’s not has hard as you think. You just have to wear some audio headphones – the ones that go around the back of your neck (thanks Julie), and then put your glasses on. Shuffle them each a bit while you’re working. Then try to take off the headset.

I did this a couple days ago and got the top of my ear horribly pinched between the glasses or the headset. If I tried to take one off, it only squeezed and pinched my ear worse. I couldn’t get off my glasses, the headphones were stuck and my ear was pinched tight between them all! I almost had to go for help. I’m too proud for that though. I was leaning towards sacrificing my ear and just pulling them all until something let go. Which is what I did.

Two days later the top of my ear still hurts – even when the water hits in it the shower.

I bet you didn’t know of this danger lurking in your workplace.

Perhaps I should go back to contact lenses.

Signs of spring

The funnest part of a new house isn’t the unpacking – it’s waiting to see what comes up in the gardens in the spring!!

This house has MANY flower gardens. Julie and Jeff worked a day away cleaning out some of them a couple weeks back. I’m so appreciative. Now I have to get my butt in gear and finish the (never-ending) job.

Here are a couple scenes that I took while walking around the yard last night as the sun set:

Look what we found in the woods off the far side of the driveway!

This squirrel bugger isn’t scared of me approaching a few feet away with a camera at all!

More of Julie & Mom’s visit

Here are some more photos of the last day of Mom & Julie’s visit. Most of them are from the Halifax waterfront.

Look how still the water was on our lake as we were driving down the driveway. It is rarely this calm. Everything is reflected. Cool.

Mom spotted this bald eagle as we drove the eastern shore to Halifax.

Touristy Photos

Here is Julie on the wharf at Sand Point. Her map showed a whale icon here so she got out to look, but she didn’t find any whales.

Mom & Julie's visit

We did the Cabot Trail on Tuesday! There was lots of snow up there still. We saw a moose and a wolf! Later I googled and found out there are no wolfs in Nova Scotia, so it was probably a coyote. It stared us down as it stood staring at our approaching car. It was in the middle of our lane! It took off over the snowbank and into the woods. No photos, sorry. But we did get photos of the moose!

Happy Birthday Jeff!

It’s Jeff’s birthday today!! He got to open the box this morning before I went to work. I think he liked his gifts! He’ll have to tell you about them.

He’s off for a week starting today. He’s going to pick up Mom and Julie at the airport this afternoon. I’m working, and then making his cake.

I predict a long day at work for me.
