Oh my goodness! There is a deer in the backyard! Check it out!
He has the most unfortunate red birthmark though…

Okay you caught me. It’s Jeff’s new target for his bow and arrows.
Here are photos from around our new place!
Here is the back of the house:

Here is the view of the garage from the back door of the house. We don’t have access to it.

Here is the view of the back of the garage. The landlord has a wood shop in the back of it:

Here is the backyard view from standing behind the garage. There are trails heading off from behind the garage off to the landlord’s sugar shack and who knows where else.

The red pines here are beautiful. It’s like living in a cottage. The bathroom is at the back of the house and when you’re sitting on the toilet the view is of these trees:

The landlord said the red pines are about 70 years old. They were planted by the government using a horse and furrow plow! The area around this house was thinned by the neighbouring was wasn’t so they aren’t as large next door.
Here’s one of the very old white pine’s still standing in this red pine stand we’re living in:

Here’s another one. I need to work on getting a better photo of these old trees.

Monty isn’t so crazy about being tied up outside, but the one drawback of this place is there is no fence and Highway 141 is quite busy.

The leaves are coming, the leaves are coming!!

I’ll work on getting photos inside the house next!
We are now residing at 72 Highway 141 West !!
It’s a great place. It’s a big house (by my standards) – 3 bedrooms and a full basement. It’s surrounded by red pine trees. There are some old growth pine in the stand too – beautiful – I’ll get some pictures up soon.
The cable man came today to hook up the cable and the internet. Hopefully the digital cable box comes tomorrow by courier!
We found out that this area doesn’t have Bell voicemail! How crazy is that? We have call display but if you call and we don’t answer, neither is voice mail because it doesn’t exist here! I guess you’ll have to email!
The power went off for a few hours starting at 4pm. There was a small thunderstorm and some heavy rain so a tree probably went down somewhere.
The house we’re renting is furnished. We have a big rec room in the basement that is very 1950′s – it’s so very much like the furniture I remember from the basement rec room on Fleet St. in London (Grandma & Pa’s place) or from the back room in the cottage – those big long purple like stiff looking couches. Coffee tables, end tables, bar! There is also a piano and a guitar and clocks and things. All the bedrooms had a little side table beside the bed with a doily, a lamp, and an alarm clock. The living room is nice and big – a couch and two chairs – one a recliner and one with a foot stool. The kitchen is loaded with things – all very much from Grandma Stock’s era. There is towels and tablecloths – even a full drawer of cookbooks! We are totally set.
Highway 141 is a busy road. We are right before the hamlet of Humphrey which even has a store with a liquor agency in it and movie rentals – its just one km away so easily walkable. At night last night while we were walking the dogs in the back yard we could hear the hum of Highway 400 because it really isn’t too far from here.
Anyway, photos of the place will follow – perhaps tomorrow.
My cousin Meaghen sent me some photos she took over Easter. The photos of Jeff and I holding our niece Hadley turned out really well! Here they are:

Here’s the house we’re moving into next weekend!

I haven’t seen it yet, but Jeff drove by again and took a photo for me
Jeff was looking at pieces of land to set up his tent for a few months yesterday. He thought he’d shower at work. That is how desperate the housing situation is in Parry Sound. He even looked for a travel tent trailer.
Well tonight it has all come into place. As of April 21st we will be renting a 3 bedroom house on 200 acres about 15 minutes south of town – just off Highway 400.
The lady who lived there died a year ago so it’s been empty awhile. The decor is apparently dated, but who cares!?! Jeff says it is comparable to the house I just sold. Nothing fancy, nothing new, but totally suitable.
Get this – the owners will leave it furnished for us – it saves them the hassle of totally emptying it and it saves us the hassle of taking much out of storage. Washer, dryer, fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, dishes, tv, couches – Jeff just had to tell them what to leave and what to take. We’ll get our own bed out of storage but they’ll leave dressers for us and clear out the closets.
They are going to keep the hydro in their name and we’ll just pay the bill. The owners live next door and both work in Jeff’s building so I guess we’re more trustworthy than the next bum.
They want to replace the oil tank and furnace so we’ll just use what’s left. It’s bound to warm up soon anyway. It’ll soon be May!
It has a septic system and a well. I hope the water is safe to drink. If not, we’ll manage. It’s all good.
And the best thing ever, totally unexpected, I’m so giddy – it has high speed cable internet there so I can continue my online work!! YE HA!
They are also okay with pets. We’ll just clean the carpets when we go, although they may be replacing them as well. It sounds like there is lots of treed land behind the house to exercise the dogs.
:>> We’re all smiles tonight!
I very much appreciate my mother’s good nature to let us stay here in the meantime. Think she’ll try to keep my cat? ;D
While I’m waiting up late for Jeff to return from his whirlwind round trip to Winnipeg today, I will post some photos from our moving adventure.
How good is THAT!?!
I went into debt for school about 12 years ago and now it’s GONE!!!!! It was a totally hectic day on Monday living in the truck waiting for the lawyers to wrap up the deal, but finally sometime after 3pm I got the cheque to go to the bank to kill my consolidated student loans for good. It felt really good.
For some reason my mortgage is still showing on my online banking profile though so that better go away soon or I’m going to panic.
Other quick updates:
We’re at mom’s house.
My computer is set up now.
Lots of business/work to catch up on.
Baby shower for Hadley tomorrow.
Last night Jeff and I went to see Shooter at the theatre. It stars Mark Wahlberg, and Danny Glover. Michael Peña was fantastic in it too.
I give it an 8/10. Jeff gave it a 7/10. It was totally unrealistic, but a good action flick. There were no slow spots – no lags – just action and suspense. Lots of shooting and blowing up things and death and blood. Good storyline.
Worth watching in a theatre.
