Might as well sleep….

What do you do when you are tired of cleaning and you have no tv? Well you sleep. 12 hours last night. Another 3 this afternoon. Tonight we’re going to see a movie – “Shooter” – something to pass the time.

Jeff leaves tomorrow so he can be in Parry Sound to meet the movers on Monday morning. The truck is half full. The house is half cleaned. We’re living in the back half now. After Jeff goes I’ll condense what’s left in here even more. I just hope it all fits into the truck!

Monty is hackin’ and coughin’. Poor dude. He acts like he feels fine but as soon as he gets a little excited then he starts hacking.

End of a Long Day

-moving truck has come and gone. 4 guys. 9-2pm or so.
-using a desktop computer on the floor sucks.
-keeping one tv out of storage so we have something to do until Monday and then it blows up with orange sparks sucks.
-it’s quiet in here
-the snow is all melted from my yard. My crocuses are in bloom and my tulips are 1-2 inches out of the ground
-Monty has kennel cough. He caught it in the boarding kennel last week I guess even though he had his vaccine (too many strains to be very effective). He has a loud croupy cough when he gets excited (mostly when he goes outside – on leash because it’s muddy). He’s sneezing a lot too and has a runny nose. Poor bugger.
-it’s only 8:27pm and we have no tv.
-I want a tv.

Moving

4 guys are here today to pack everything up. One of them is allergic to dogs so he’s out in the garage packing up

These guys are fast so I don’t imagine they’ll be here all day.

Tomorrow a different truck comes to load ‘er up.

Update:
Now Sears is here to certify all the appliances are working before they moved.
AND the knucklehead tree trimmers that took all day yesterday to trim 3 branches off the back trees are here to finally pick up the branches. If they scratch Jeff’s truck they’re going to have a rough day.

Update:
Dismantling computer for now. Changed my mind, I’ll dismantle it in the morning.

Update: The packers were done by 1pm. Tomorrow a different set of guys will come and load it up. They back in big boxes with really not much more information than the name of the room on it so I hope we don’t need to hunt for something while it’s in storage. I need a nap.

Interesting Trend…

Cool. I’m unemployed. I’ll be homeless on Monday. And now I have no wheels. What’s next?

Whatever is making my truck shake and attempt to stall and sputter and sput isn’t obvious. To begin with, it needs a tune-up. Probably $300 worth. And that might not fix the problem. I just put $300 into already this month (oil change, new air filter, and new (rebuilt) starter).

And since I have zero desire to drive all the way to southern Ontario whiteknuckling it, scared to death it is going to die, I have decided to say good-bye.

Unless I have a dream from a mechanic in the netherworlds who can suggest how to fix it (for free).

It’s a 92 S-10. The mechanic says it’s too old to get a useful computer diagnostic run.

Because it’s in such bad shape, I think I’ll probably take him up on his offer to scrap it on my behalf. Well I might place a call to the wrecker and verify that they aren’t going to pay me much. It really isn’t in any condition to drive out there.

I’m not too sure what to do with the other set of tires I have for it. Hopefully if I toss them in the back, they’ll scrap them too.

So by Monday, I will have no more assets, and practically no more debt (we’ll have to see how the numbers play out). Okay so it’s debatable if my truck was much of an asset, but it got me around for the last 3 years and I’m very thankful to my Uncle Paul for selling it to me.

Now we’ll just have to see if we can really get all the stuff we’re keeping out of storage in just Jeff’s truck.

What I’m listening to right now: I can hear the TV from the bedroom. And the fridge is rattling. Monty is sleeping silently behind me in his x-pen.

My Truck’s Future is Uncertain

My truck was coughing and sputtering and rattling and knocking so bad today. I thought it was from bad gas (we emptied the jerry can from the garage into the tank) so I filled up the tank and if anything it got worse. I was so afraid that it was going to stall out on me in the middle of an intersection I turned around and headed to the mechanic’s.

He put a bottle of additive into the gas tank in case it was just bad gas and told me to drive around for an hour. I drove around the back streets around my house and let it sit and idle in my driveway for awhile. It didn’t get any better so it’s back in the shop.

I let him know that if it is time to say good-bye, then I can accept that and move on. There is no way I’m driving it across town like that, let alone all the way to southern Ontario. I was practically in tears I was so afraid it was going to die on the street.

It’s been acting weird since I got the starter changed so perhaps they just didn’t put the truck back together right. (cross fingers).

One week from today and I won’t be a home owner any longer. I still have a TON of things to do before the movers show up on Thursday. Good thing I don’t have to go to work too.

What I’m listening to right now: The dogs pacing around waiting for Jeff to bring the smoked pork chops in from the bbq.

More White Spots

More white spots on my tonsils tonight. But I’m able to lie down more without my breathing closing off. I slept upright in bed last night and it worked better – less snoring.

I’m trying to kill the tonsillitis with rye tonight. I don’t think it’s working but I’m willing to finish this last glass to complete the experiment ;-)

Tomorrow: long list of things to accomplish. The movers will be here on Thursday already!

Julie emailed me a bunch of new photos of my niece Hadley tonight. She’s really cute. I can’t wait to hold her.

My Tonsils

My Tonsils

I have tonsillitis again. They are so swollen this time that I can’t breathe at night. I snore bad in every position and angle because my tongue relaxes and my throat closes.

I think the white spots they are sporting right now are a nice touch, don’t you?

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Jeff logged into his work e-mail last night and found an email telling him when his Nova Scotia interview is. And it is not until MAY 24TH!!!! What the @%#*!?! That’ll be 3 months after the last test he did for them.

Half of my stuff has been stored in the garage since August. Looks like it’ll be in there until at least this August. If the interview isn’t until the end of May, then he probably won’t know until at least mid-June so we won’t have a house in any of the locations until probably August-September. Who knows where the heck we’ll live. G’damn government takin’ their sweet ass time, and wasting ours.

Okay rant over. I’ll go back to being the supportive girlfriend now.

Back to Cabela’s this afternoon. Beef jerky anyone?

I’m an Aunt!! And I’m in Ypsilanti!

I am now an Aunt!!! Leanne and Brian had a girl yesterday afternoon – Hadley Marie – 8 lbs. She isn’t even 24 hours old and she already has her own website!! http://ajax.verkley.com/hadley/
Congratulations Brian & Leanne!

Jeff and I drove down to Ypsilanti, Michigan yesterday for a conference he had to attend for work this week. I’m just tagging along.

This hotel room is wild. There is a big king sized bed that is so soft – down duvet and pillows. Three telephones (including the one beside the toilet). View of the golf course. But the TV is on a side wall so only one person can really see it from the bed! How odd!

Although they advertised high speed wireless, turns out it is an extra $10/day charge. At least I can sit here and wait to see photos of my niece though!!

This morning we had room service for breakfast! I’ve never had room service before! At night you select what you want for breakfast on a card and what time you want to eat your breakfast, and then you hang it on your door at midnight. Then in the morning, presto! Breakfast is served! It was all on one tray even with a couple of real flowers for decoration.

Last night we drove down to Cabela’s. I got a pair of hiking shoes by Merrell. They are comfy. It is law enforcement/fire fighter appreciation week so we got such a good discount at the check-out that we’re going back again tomorrow :D

I’m on Jeff’s laptop so I don’t have my graphics program here, but I’ll try to upload a few photos I’ve taken already.

See how the TV is on the side wall? It pulls out a bit, but you can’t turn it. Odd.

Here’s breakfast!
ketchup
Look at this itty bitty ketchup bottle! So cute!
breakfast
Here is Jeff’s breakfast! Mine was cereal with a blueberry muffin and hot chocolate.

I’m not sure what I’m going to get up to today while Jeff is in his conference. I was going to go for a walk around town but it’s raining pretty good. I do have a hood… well we’ll see. I didn’t get much sleep last night. My throat has been sore (swollen tonsils again) and I snored so much I didn’t sleep well. Jeff snored too – maybe it’s the super soft bed. There is a pool downstairs but I’ll probably wait until Jeff can swim too. I doubt I’ll take the truck anywhere – the roads are whacked around here with lots of traffic. I like my chauffeur Jeff ;)

Wild Hogs

Wild HogsI twisted Jeff’s arm tonight to go see “Wild Hogs”. I thought we had a 2 for 1 coupon, but those corporate buggers put “valid on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday only” in the fine print. :>

I liked the movie. It was a fun laughable movie. Nothing too deep. I had no idea Ray Liotta was in it. I purposely avoid that guy because he makes my skin crawl. He played another despicable character in this movie too. I probably wouldn’t have gone to see it if I knew he was in it.

I am hesitating between a 7 and an 8 rating. So I’ll go with 7.5. Jeff gives it a 5. He doesn’t care for John Travolta much, nor Tim Allen or Martin Lawrence. Near the beginning the acting was way way bad. And the commercials for this movie give away several of the laughs in the first half of the movie which is a shame. The entire story is completely unrealistic, but that’s still cool. It must be rated G because it seems like a good movie to take pre-teens too – they’d get a good laugh.

I’m a wee bit afraid though that now that Dad has no vehicle, and he did recently watch this movie, that he’ll be showing up on a motorcycle next time he comes to visit. Just wear a helmet, m’k?
