Moan….

I’m sick. Why did I come to work? I want to be in bed. I’m cold and miserable. My head hurts, my legs ache, I’m stuffed up, coughing, and sneezing.

Maybe I’ll stay here until lunch.

Why didn’t I just stay home in the first place? Because I thought I was making it up to stay home.

Achoo….!

UPDATE:
I left work at 11am. My inner ears are itchy now. Perhaps it’s nap time. I should have known that when I woke up this morning and didn’t want breakfast that I wasn’t secretly faking myself out to stay home and that I really was genuinely germy.

Chapstick

chapstick

You know… I just realized I’ve never finished a little tube of Chapstick. I just lost another one. That was my 3rd Chapstick in a month. I swear it was in my pocket earlier, but now it is not.

Where do all the Chapstick’s go? I can’t remember ever seeing an abandoned Chapstick on the sidewalk. Is there a secret underground organization who steals these lip lubricating jewels from our pockets? Or am I the only one to have the misfortune of losing my coveted Chapstick?

My truck.. now it’s the starter

My poor truck. I really think it’s suffering from not having me drive it every day. And now it has to sleep outside at night (the garage is full of our packed stuff ready to move).

A couple of weeks ago I replaced the battery. And now it’s the starter. Yesterday when I tried to start it, it screamed at me the first time. It did it again a couple of times today. So Dad’s advice is to not drive it until I can get it repaired. I have Jeff’s truck – he’s in Calgary, so I guess I will drive it.

Part of me wants to just sell my truck. Right now, we have no need really for two vehicles. We live together, work in the same building, and do most of our shopping together. Maybe I should just sell mine. The only time it would be a problem is when Jeff is gone on a fishing or hunting trip. Then I’d have to take the bus or rent a car.

Cost wise, my truck is costing me in repairs – probably $1500 a year. Insurance is about $63 a month. How much could I sell it for, $500? $850? It’s a 1992 Chevy S-10, 2 wheel drive, 4.3L engine. Most of it’s parts have been replaced in the last 3 years, but it’s still old. This morning the door was frozen shut. When I got it open, it removed the rubber seal so I had to put it back on before the door would close. Then the wipers were frozen to the window and I sure couldn’t crank the defrost because it might crack my windshield even more.

I would love to be making enough money to go out and buy something newer, nicer, maybe with 4×4 and a CD player, but I don’t have that kind of money so I would have to go without until I did have money coming in.

Would I would miss a bit of my independence without my own vehicle? Possible. And Jeff’s truck is huge and seems like too much of a vehicle to drive around to run errands.

I guess I’ll just park it for the week and see if Jeff is up to replacing the starter when he gets back. In the meantime, if anyone wants to put in their potential purchase bid, just let me know ;D

Quiet Sunday Morning, Up for the Second Time

It’s a cold and quiet Sunday morning. I was up at 4am to take Jeff to the airport for his 6am flight to Calgary. He’ll be gone until Friday. Of course I came home and went back to sleep until 9:30. Ahhhh I love sleeping in.

I think today I’ll go get the rest of my Christmas shopping for Jeff done since he can’t peak at my purchases. Right now I’m making an account for myself here on Jeff’s laptop so when he’s gone I can use it :D Ahh how I miss my laptop. Right now I’m watching The Antiques Roadshow and I’m sitting in my leather recliner and using the laptop. NICE!

We got a good dump of snow on Friday. I got stuck on ice on a hill at a red light on Friday after work. Jeff had to get out and push. I better remember to get those sandbags back in the truck before I go out today. Hopefully with both of our trucks in the driveway this winter there will be less to shovel but I’m probably dreaming. Jeff has a big snow scoop though and now there are two of us to shovel the snow, so we should be good to go! ;)

Well I guess I should get showered and dressed and then shovel out my truck, load up the sand, and shuffle the order of the trucks in the driveway, then I’ll be off to battle the Christmas shopping crowds. Canadian Tire was a zoo yesterday!!

Freedomland and Munich

We watched the last two of our rentals on Friday night – Freedomland and Munich.

Don’t waste your time watching either of these movies.

Freedomland, a movie with Samuel L. Jackson, Julianne Moore, and Edie Falco. It is about a woman who turns to the cop (Samuel L. Jackson) that her car was just stolen with her son in the backseat. Both Jeff and I agreed that this entire movie felt like you walked in after it was half over. We never felt like we were grasping what was going on. Almost like it was Part 2 and we missed the first one. I give it a 1 out of 5.

Munich is a movie about a revenge plot to take out the people who plotted the kidnapping and killing of 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics. The good thing about this movie was a bit of a history lesson since I wasn’t alive in 1972 to know the story. Unfortunately it was a 2.5 hour movie with far too many characters to keep straight in your head. As with Freedomland, characters would show up on the screen and Jeff and I would be trying to figure out who they were and were we already introduced to this guy and what was his story again? I was very surprised to see that this was a Steven Spielberg movie. Neither Jeff and I really had any desire to see it to the end, but we did. I am reading through some of the reviews on IMDB and I’m wondering if these people watched the same movie we did. There was nothing engaging about this flick. I give it a 1 out of 5.
