Open House Sunday 2-4

I called up my real estate agent yesterday. She’d been gone for a week again on a vacation.

The first question she asked was if I was ready to drop the price.

Drop the Price? Already? She hasn’t shown it to anyone yet. Two other agents have though.

I asked for an open house, so she just called back and it’s scheduled for this Sunday 2-4.

Yesterday it sounded like she really wanted me to drop my price before the Open House. That didn’t make me too happy. I’m not expecting to get the full price anyway, but if I drop it, I risk getting an offer of what I paid for it 4 years ago before I put in a new furnace, insulation, bathroom, etc.

I want to get more photos on MLS so she said we could do that.

I just really want to get moved before Christmas! We are not going to buy in Parry Sound until my house sells. And now we’re just debating if Jeff should give up his rental house now or not (he has to give 2 months notice).

What if no one comes to the open house? Can I give bribes? Free hot dogs and pop? haha. I’ll have to relocate elsewhere with the pets anyway.

She said she didn’t see any new sales on the board so the people that came through mine haven’t bought yet. I guess they are still looking.

I know they’re getting sore, but keep those fingers crossed…

Jeep Liberty & Flowers

We test drove a Jeep Liberty over the weekend. I can scratch it off my list of potential vehicles. We test drove the Sport edition. It would have been a great vehicle if we were several inches shorter since we both looked directly into the sun visor flap. Otherwise it was a nice ride – comfortable firm seats, and enough shoulder space, but definitely not too much room above the head. The Jeep Liberty has a Limited Edition that has an electronic seat controller that allows you to tip it forward. Perhaps that would allow your eyes to look more through the windshield. There was wasn’t any center elbow rest, but other wise it was a simple small SUV, not too many fun extras.

Here is a photo of my flowers that Jeff brought me when he returned from his week long fishing trip. They still look fantastic! They smell awesome too. He’s so good to me!

Flyboys

FlyboysWe went to see Flyboys at the movies last night.

It is a movie about a bunch of young American men who go to France to join their Air Force during World War One before the USA was involved in the war. Their squadron was called the Lafayette Escadrilles and they battled the Germans in the air.

There was some incredible work done to make this movie. There are a lot of shots of them in their planes during battle and my untrained eye couldn’t tell which scenes were computer animated or in a studio or if they were real.

It was like watching an extremely primitive Top Gun. Those planes they flew sure didn’t have many bells and whistles. It seemed like they taught them to fly by basically saying, there is the plane, go fly.

The movie was a little slow, but not unenjoyable. It was based on a true story. I don’t know much about planes or World War I battles, so it was a nice look into that era of history.

Of course there was a love story tossed in that was rather out of place. A lead character with frosted tips on his hair – did they really dye their hair in 1917? And along those lines – shouldn’t they have had buzz cuts? There was also the annoyance of a character who had a thick French accent at the beginning of the movie, and by the end it was a deep southern USA accent.

Regardless, I think I’ll give it a 3/5. It isn’t a movie to remember forever, but it was an enjoyable watch. Definitely watch this one on a bigger screen – the flying scenes are incredible – Worth going to the theatre to see.

I’m Media!!

Because of my ForestTalk website that I own and operate, I was e-mailed with a special media pass for an upcoming forestry conference in Cochrane. It includes a FREE trip on the Polar Bear Express, with seminars all day on the train, meals, including a traditional meal in Moosonee, and walk around Moosonee and Moose Factory, and speaks from politians.

I SO BADLY WANT TO GO. I could write many stories for my site.

Unfortunately… my boss is one of the speakers!! I suppose I couldn’t keep the forestry site I run on the side a secret then, eh? Conflict of Interest I would assume.

DAMN!

It’s Sold!

Ha tricked you. Not my house, but that beautiful place on the lake that was listed on Thursday. I knew it wouldn’t last a week.

We got our local real estate magazine yesterday in the newspaper and my real estate agent has prominently displayed my house in her ad, so I was happy about that. Hopefully that will bring more viewings. I hope when she gets back in town we can have an open house. That’s the only reason I went to see it and bought it so maybe it’ll work for the next owner too.

House Showing

Ack! Just got a call that another realtor wants to show my house at 3:00 this afternoon so I have to dash home and vacuum and put away the pets. Good thing I’ve kept up with the dishes and laundry and made the bed this morning.

Let’s hope this is the one! ;)

Quick Weekend Update

Just a quick update because I have a big headache and need sleep.

  • Jeff came back! He had a good trip and brought me the most beautiful flowers!! and he brought Monty a big bone that he is lying behind me knawing on right now! I’m so glad he’s back.
  • I’m not allergic to chocolate! I make Jeff a chocolate cake and I ate about half of it so I’m good to go! 19 months I spent avoiding chocolate and I’m not even allergic to it. I’d way rather be allergic to Tylenol than chocolate!
  • We took a drive north of town for a little grouse hunting today. Too bad every where we went was so littered with ATV’ers so the grouse were long gone. BEAUTIFUL leaves though though. Dad are you coming up to grouse hunt next weekend?
  • Gas is only 77.5 cents a litre! Too bad my tank is full of that expensive 84 cent gas. I almost want to drive around so I can get the cheaper stuff! :D
  • Jeff finally had enough, and so did I, of my goose down pillows. They were from Walmart and they had the feather spines still in them. So over the last year, all the pokey feathers started sticked out of the pillows. It’s like sleeping on a big hedgehog. I usually ended up with my extra comforter under my head to protect me from them. Jeff finally declared it was new pillow day so now I have four new non-feathery ones that are sooooo nice.
  • I weighed Monty at the vet’s on Friday and he’s only 66 pounds so I guess my previous months of lifting him up and weighing us both and then subtracting my weight was grossly inaccurate. He’s become SUCH a good dog lately – growing out of his obnoxious independent puppyness. For example, when I say come, he actually comes in my direction over 50% of the time now!

K, off to bed. If you need something to do, please use all magic voodoo at your disposal to send me a house buyer so we can get this moving thing happenin’!

September 15th – He’s been gone a year….

The agent and her client showed this morning! I put away the dog beds, baby gates, x pen, dog toys, vacuumed, mopped, made the bed, took out the garbage, cleaned and put away the dishes. Then I put Monty out in the dog run, Trooper in a crate in the garage, and Zeus in Monty’s puppy carrier behind the back door. I waited for them to arrive, told them were the pets were so they weren’t surprised by them, and then I went to the post office. It was a young lady with a toddler. This place would be perfect for them! I hope she liked it. They didn’t stay long – they were gone by the time I returned from the post office. My agent is gone next week, but she has a partner covering her listings.

So I’ve put the dog stuff back and brought in the boys and let out the cat. Now I’m going to work on my new site for awhile. I can’t wait to get it earning me money. Later I’ll probably drive out to the retriever club property as today is the one year anniversary of Winger dying. I remember that day all too well and can’t believe it was already a year ago.

I also have to plan tomorrow’s welcome home dinner. And the dessert better be chocolate because I’m eager to prove to myself I’m not allergic to chocolate after all! (but I’ll wait for Jeff, a.k.a. a ride to the hospital, to be here just in case my hunch is wrong!)
