Zeus ate three little pieces of tuna!! yes! I’m going to wait to see if they stay down before I try to feed him more.
Monty and I are off to conformation classes in a bit. He’s 5 months old today and weighs exactly 40 lbs!

Ever try to give Pepto to a cat?
Zeus went to the vet a couple of hours ago. I read this morning that if cats don’t eat for 1-2 days, their liver can’t handle it and they get deathly ill, so I figured it was time to bring him to the vets (for the first time).
He meowed on the way there because he hates travelling in the truck in his carrier. He was purring nice for the vet and he weighed him. He’s 11.11 lbs (freaky number!!!!) I never thought he was over 10 lbs. Anyway, then the vet felt his stomach and he started screaming! (Zeus, not the vet). He said his stomach was really tender and his bladder was full. He said the first thing to test was his urine output – sometimes male cats get blocked up with crystals so they wanted to put a catheter in to see. They took him in the back so the vet techs could hold him while they did that. All I could hear in the waiting room was Zeus screaming and screaming. 10 minutes later the vet said that he peed all over the table when they tried to restrain him, so that wasn’t the problem, so they were going to restrain him for x-rays. I got him back and we waited 20 minutes or so for the results.
I got to go back into the exam room to see the x-rays. It looks like he has a shard of bone left in his stomach. He has a lot of feces in there waiting to pass. He has a big pocket of gas built up that wasn’t normal either. Actually now that I think about it, the bone fragment is past his stomach.
So the plan is for me to give him pepto bismol – 1 teaspoon every 4 hours. Since he has stopped puking, that is a good sign. I am supposed to try to get him to eat again tonight. The vet gave me a syringe for the pepto.
Yeah right. Squeezing pepto into Zeus’ mouth. I got him home and I got maybe a 1/4 of a teaspoon in him, but most of it came out in long frothy strings from the sides of his mouth that he was getting all over the house.
If he still doesn’t eat tomorrow and starts puking again, it could mean the bone fragment is stuck into the side of his intestine or where ever it is and that will mean exploratory surgery.
So there went another $176 to the vet’s office today. Zeus is just a cat, but I couldn’t deny him medical care. I really hope he pulls through this, he is a good cat, and I would like to spend many more years having him in my house.
OH and the vet said, has he always wobbled like that?? He noticed he was all twitchy and had a wobbly head, but I assured him he’s been like that since I got him in 2001.
Winter’s Back, Zeus is sick
Winter is back. It was raining when I went to sleep and this morning there is several inches of new snow and it’s windy and yucky.
Zeus is really sick. He ate some chicken bones on the weekend and then threw up for 2 days. He won’t eat. He had a good drink of water last night at least though. I don’t know what to do. I know he gets so car sick that taking him to the vet could be very traumatic for him. He’s just lying around. He purrs, but there is no fight in him right now, he wouldn’t attack your feet right now if you tried to step on him for real this time. He can’t die too so think good thoughts.
Gorgeous Spring Weekend
Gorgeous March weekend here – really warm, and we’ve lots the majority of the snow. My laneway has been down to mud since Friday. Although that could soon change with the winter storm watch we have right now!
J. finally came back after being gone for 2 weeks, but he had a really sore foot and hasn’t been able to move around until this afternoon so I gladly volunteered to be his nurse. Lucky man getting his meals delivered to his immobile self in bed.
Monty is getting to spend a couple hours at a time outside in his kennel run. He loves it. Too bad it will short lived because when it’s down to mud I doubt he’ll be in it long until the ground hardens up. Today I caught him standing ON TOP of his dog house! That’s right, all four paws were up there! Funny dog! He loves standing out there and watching the birds. He’s got good eyes.
The Soprano’s starts their new season tonight. I’ve been waiting for almost 2 years for this season. I LOOOOOOOOOOVE The Soprano’s. The character development on that show is incredible. So if you call tonight when it’s on, fully expect the voice mail to take your call 
I Signed a Contract Extension
I signed a contract extention this morning. March 30 – August 4, 2006
It’s the shortest contract extension I’ve gotten yet. I believe my supervisor is hoping for additional funding for the project past August 4th, but after working for 5 years for the Gov’t, I know not to count on anything. At least it’s a few more months of paycheques, but I won’t be advanced 3 weeks of holidays because it isn’t a year long contract, so it doesn’t look like I’ll be having a summer vacation again.
Amazing Race
I love The Amazing Race. Unfortunately I can’t watch it this season.
Why you ask?
Because it’s on AFTER my bed time!
After coming off their family season, where ratings plummeted, why on earth would they wait until 10pm to air it? If American Idol is the problem, wait until next season!
Last week was the opening episode. It was 2 hours in length, from 9-11pm. I made it until 10pm and fell asleep. Last night I made it until about 10:10pm.
Just imagine how many more people would be able to watch their show if it was on at 8pm!

Did anyone else just hear me screaming at that woman to shut her mouth? (I tried to go to bed early, really I did.)
I’m speaking about Heather Mills McCartney. She, and her husband Sir Paul, are on CNN with Larry King bathering on and on about the seal hunt. Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador is trying to educate them, but she just keeps flapping her gums, reciting her propaganda, and making herself look the fool! My god, Heather, do yourself a favour and button up!!
The McCartneys are being used as propaganda tools. They look like fools. Danny Williams did a fantastic job. Hell Paul McCartney didn’t even know what province he was in – he thought he was in Newfoundland, but he was in PEI.
The HSUS is a propaganda machine, who likely makes millions by spreading this trash. Of course the baby seals are cute and they are killed in the white snow and ice so it’s bloody, but all animals are harvested and killed for our benefit – you don’t see the McCartney’s in a slaughterhouse when beef cows are killed (although maybe I’d prefer that so the noise would drown out that woman’s voice).

DAMN warmblooded creatures!
Why do we have to be warmblooded? That means we have to heat our houses in the winter! Craziness! I just got my oil bill for the furnace – $472.09! And I keep my heat between 61-64°F!
The only reason I can keep it so low is because I go outside so often with Monty and if I kept it up to 70° then it would just be way too hot when I come back in. Plus I have that amazing goose down duvet on my bed now (thanks Mom!)
I really have to start using all this free time I have this week and next for productively making mountains of cash.
First things first… I need to clean off this desk!
