Hey, this looks good!

Just saw this press release on SooToday. This looks awesome!

New Canadian reality series shooting in Sault Ste. Marie

Bonterra Productions Inc. is gearing up to film three episodes of their exciting new series in the Sault area.

Mantracker will be broadcast nationally on the Outdoor Life Network’s new primetime slate in 2006.

Produced by an award-winning team; this series pushes outdoor adventure television to a new level.

Mantracker features an expert mantracker chasing down two people over wild terrain.

The hunted will take off into the bush with a head start, and have two days to survive and outrun Mantracker.

When he catches them, it’s over.

If they manage to escape his clutches and reach the end of the chase, then victory is theirs.

Mantracker is a veteran cowboy who the RCMP calls in when they need to retrieve someone who can’t – or won’t – be found.

He’s cool, confident and unflappable and this is no game to him.

His reputation is on the line and he will stop at nothing to hunt down his prey.

Riding on horseback with a local cowboy as his sidekick, Mantracker has to rely on his tracking instincts and his partner’s knowledge of the region.

Whether in the Yukon, Alberta’s foothills or Northern Ontario, Mantracker has some serious ground to cover.

Each episode features a different pair of people making a run for it.

Two strangers from different walks of life team up and ally their energies in an attempt to defeat this challenge.

Mantracker offers the once in a lifetime experience of being hunted down like a fugitive.

Trekking through deep woods and rugged rock face, these adventurers have a target on their back.

No matter how severe the terrain, Mantracker is just a step behind. W

Watch Out.

JULIE UPDATED HER BLOG!!!

‘Bout time!

Dad just arrived here an hour ago. Our weekend plan is to redo the bathtub surround in my bathroom because it is so rotten that bugs crawl out from between the tiles when I shower. No, I’m afraid I’m not kidding. I don’t have the funds to gut the bathroom, so I’ll do what I can to make it look good in case I ever decide to pack up and move quick – gotta keep the place sellable! :-)

Uh oh, Dad just flipped football highlights on. Yuck….

Someone posted 197 Katrina photos with full commentary.

These are incredible. Especially the one where a guy was sucked out of a building and land on a car, crumpling the car, but he was fine!

Want to know what really happened to the people stuck in New Orleans?
Read this tale: http://www.livejournal.com/users/uproar/449837.html

Another blog I’ve been reading, http://www.livejournal.com/users/interdictor/ They have a live cam running too. He’s the guy CNN talks about that refused to leave his office building.

Brief Update

Gas has dropped all the way to 136.1. Big whoopy. It’s only 2.99 across the river. I just may go across the bridge when I need gas next time, we’ll see.

Winger’s back legs have gone out a couple more times. Almost seems neurological, they are stiff. Today they went straight back. A second later he’s fine.

We watched the movie “Sahara” tonight. I really liked it! Lots of action! Totally not realistic, but the characters were fun! All except Penelope Cruz, what a bad actress. But Matthew McConaughey was good, Steve Zahn was even better. Herc didn’t enjoy it – because he’s read the book – I guess he thinks the book was better.

Okay, that’s it for my brief update, over and out…

Labour Day Long Weekend

Well gas is now 139.9 here, so travelling is out of the question!

I’m also not coming home for the plowing match, which makes me really sad, but it just isn’t in the cards financially wise, nor with Winger, or with just how long it takes to drive down there!

The prednisone has turned Winger into such a hyper puppy! Seriously, in his head his hip displasia and arthritis are GONE! I imagine it’s eliminated the inflammation of the arthritis, but he is leaping and jump and running up the stairs like I’ve never seen him do! Prednisone also makes him so HUNGRY! Seriously, he’d eat the entire fridge if he could find a way to get his teeth around it!

So I’m spending the long weekend at home. Herc* bought a new laptop so I’ve set him up on my wireless network so he can amuse himself and I can have my laptop to myself :-)

I’ve switched Winger back to kibble because prednisone is going to kill his immune system and make him susceptible to all sorts of nasties. I bought the kibble he does okay with – Natural Balance Duck and Potato by Dick Van Patten. It was $44 for 17 pounds! My god! I’m sure I was feeding them cheaper than that on raw meat. I’m putting Surf on kibble too while Winger is still here so there will be no fights over meat. Maybe I’ll find another one that is cheaper for her because she can tolerate the grains that Winger can’t.

Okay, off to clean up the house a little. Hope you are all having a fantastic long weekend and the gas is cheaper where you are!

Winger’s visit with Dr. P

Winger had his check-up appointment today. The vet seems much more optimistic than I have been. I was wondering if I’d have to put him down this week.

The vet prescribed prednisone – 50 mg a day for 3 weeks. He went and checked his textbook which said to give it for 4 months, but we’ll see if it does any good in the next 3 weeks, so we made an appointment for 3 weeks from now. Prednisone is cheap – I think it was $17 for the 3 weeks. He also said I could give benedryl. The dose would be 3 pills (75 mg) three or four times a day. And I had occasionally gave him 2 once a day and that knocked him out. Wow! We’ll see how it goes. Prednisone is a steroid which will retains sodium in the body so Winger will be drinking and peeing ALOT he warned.

The large tumor behind each of his ears – they are maybe 3/4 the size of a golf ball. Winger has been scratching at them the last couple days and they bled a wee bit. Hopefully the prednisone will greatly reduce their swelling, and I’ll give benedryl if he’s still scratching.

I know he’s going to die. But he has no idea. He’s not sick and runs and plays and wrestles like normal. Until he feels bad, I just can’t put him down. I wouldn’t be able to look him in the eyes and tell him why. I know there is part of me that just wants it over with so I can grieve, but he deserves to live and enjoy life as he does every day for now. I’m still not really hopeful that he’ll see his 12th birthday in November, but we’ll see.

Okay, I suppose I should go back to work!

Fascinating

Sheesh, I’ve been having such problems with my laptop’s wireless connection. It would drop off and not be able to find my network. It’s happened several times this week, and you know how I just can’t part with my laptop for repairs! (I have to turn it on by squeezing a paper clip under the broken on button)

Tonight was a bad one. I restarted twice and it still couldn’t find a wireless network. I rebooted my router, troubleshooted my wireless network adapter. NO LUCK. I was getting tense!

THEN I realized, every time this happened this week, I was talking on my new cordless phone! I switched to my corded phone – wireless network found and connected!

I switched the channel on the phone, and presto, all is well again.

Fascinating…..

Today’s other fasincations:

Gas jumped to 123.9 at my station last night. Luckily I filled up at 103.7 before it leaped.

I wrote my first article for SpruceNeedle – featuring Leannio herself! Check it out: http://spruceneedle.com/viewarticles.cgi?article=1

Good night all!

Random Thoughts

I forgot to mention in my post about the weekend… the leaves have started to change up here! This summer was almost a write-off. July was way too hot to do anything. My gardens.. well I gave up on them, they don’t look so good. It was just too hot and dry. At least I got camping for one night.

New Orleans… horrible situation. I can’t imagine losing everything. However even more, I can’t imagine losing everything twice.. why on earth would they want to rebuilt the city below sea level AGAIN?

Blog recommendation: http://secretsinbaghdad.blogspot.com/ I stumbled on this blog through a Slashdot today. What a different world! Seriously, take the time to read all his posts. Arrested and beaten just for READING comments on a website!

I’m learning Visual Basic at work to do some programming for another research scientist. Another skill for the back pocket, not a bad idea to learn. Maybe it’ll make me want to work more.

I launched my new website this week – http://SpruceNeedle.com. There is still SO much content and programming to do for it, but I need to start getting traffic and income flowing, so it’s live. I’m planning to write a big headliner article about Brian, Leanne, Dad, and Cecilia’s upcoming mountain climb which should bring in many hits for me, and support for them!

Winger now has 4 big mast cell tumours on his head and they are growing SO fast and they are big. We’re going back to the vet on Friday. He is really enjoying life still. I think it will be extra extra extra hard to put him down if he’s still having a great time but one of these tumours bursts and bleeds too bad. Cancer is cruel. I know he’d have a couple good years of fun still if this wasn’t cutting it short. Unless I can find a way to stop these tumours from growing out of control, I doubt he’ll be with me much longer. I know I’ll be a mess for a very long time. I can’t even imagine getting another dog – no dog could come close to Winger. Surf and I will have to continue on, but it’s going to be a blow to both of us.

On that cheery note, I really better get to sleep. Two more days of work before the long weekend.
